BIOGRAPHY
The Honorable Kori Beck Bumgarner is the Commonwealth's Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit which includes Edmonson & Warren Counties. In January 2023, she was appointed to the position by Governor Andy Beshear after previously serving as First Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney and is honored to serve as the first female Commonwealth's Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit. Kori was elected to the position in November of 2023.
The primary responsibility of the office is to see that justice is accomplished through the aggressive, competent, and ethical prosecution of criminal cases.
Kori is proud to have been born and raised in Bowling Green and Warren County, Kentucky.
I grew up watching my parents, Ralph and Kim Beck, each operate their own local businesses. I graduated from Bowling Green High School and then attended Western Kentucky University, graduating in 2008, summa cum laude. During college, I worked as a runner in the Warren County Commonwealth's Attorney's office, and knew from those early experiences that, one day, I wanted to serve our community as Commonwealth's Attorney.
Upon graduation from WKU, I attended Salmon P. Chase College of Law, focusing my studies on criminal litigation. During the summers, I returned to Warren County to clerk for then Kentucky Court of Appeals Judge Kelly Thompson, and continuing my connections with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
After law school, I returned to Bowling Green and worked as a staff attorney for Circuit Court Judges John Grise and Steve Wilson. Through that experience, my conviction to be a felony prosecutor only grew.
In 2012, I was hired by the Hon. Christopher Cohron as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney. Since that time, I have prosecuted a wide range of felonies from homicide, to rape, assault and robbery. I developed particular skills trying cases against child predators. In October 2022, I was promoted to First Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney where I took on additional responsibilities of personnel management and community relations.
My husband and I are proud to raise our two boys in Warren County. I regularly find ways to give back to our community, including my service on the Family Enrichment Center's Board of Directors, and membership in the WKU Sisterhood.
